हमारा देश महान है। शताब्दियों तक हमारा गौरवपूर्ण इतिहास रहा है। केवल पूर्व के देश ही नहीं बल्कि पश्चिम के समस्त देश भी प्राचीन संस्कृति की छाप लिए हुए हैं। हमारे दर्शन और साहित्य ने पश्चिमी जीवनधारा को काफी प्रभावित किया है। आज हम उन्नति की दौड़ में अग्रसर होने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। हम सबका कर्तव्य है कि देश की सेवा में सब कुछ न्यौछावर कर दें। हमें जाति, धर्म और प्रान्तीयता के भेदों को भूल जाना चाहिए। हमें याद रखना चाहिए कि यदि हमारे देश की उन्नति होगी तो हमारा भविष्य शानदार होगा।

Education is a device for helping a man to grow to his full stature. It enables him to realize his nature both mentally and spiritually. It is to the child what perfect gardening is to the tree. What a gardener is to a tree, an educator is to a human being. Just as a plant cannot grow properly without the help of a gardener, a man cannot develop fully without proper education. The real aim of education is the full development of a man's own efforts are as necessary as the help of an educator.

Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow :
The primary function of a newspaper is to supply us with all sorts of news, local and foreign. It gives us information of what is going on in our own country, as well as in other parts of the world. But for it, we would have to remain in total ignorance of the affairs of the world. It is only on account of newspapers that we can closely follow the important and interesting events of the world and keep abreast of the times. As a matter of fact, a newspaper is a sort of contemporary history. The benefits of a newspaper do not end here. By supplying information of the different parts of the world, they bring them into close touch with one another and tend to promote friendly feelings. A newspaper is also the best means of communication between the government of a country and its people. The rulers and the ruled make known their respective view points through the medium of newspapers. The people can lay down their grievances for the consideration of the government in newspapers, and the government in its turn can communicate its own views to the people.
